1D structure
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000007
The structure of a molecule encoded as a single line of text, such as a SMILES or InChI string, from which the atoms, bonds and stereochemistry are recovered. It carries no three-dimensional coordinates. An InChI string is generated by a fixed algorithm, so the same structure always gives the same identifier, while a SMILES string can be written several ways unless it is canonicalized.
