A prefix of Greek origin used in scientific and medical terminology to denote slowness or a decreased rate. It is combined with other word roots to describe a condition or process that is abnormally slow. For example, 'bradycardia' means a slow heart rate, and 'bradypnoea' signifies an abnormally slow rate of breathing.
