Conservation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012991
The set of operations required to maintain the integrity of a material and its properties between its collection and its examination in a clinical laboratory setting. These procedures aim to prevent any alteration of the measurand's concentration or activity, which could invalidate the test results. Conservation measures include controlling temperature through refrigeration or freezing, adding stabilizers like anticoagulants to blood samples, and protecting specimens from light.
