Biological specimen

A sample of material, such as tissue, blood, urine, or hair, collected from a living organism for laboratory analysis, diagnosis, or research. These samples are analyzed to measure the concentration of a xenobiotic, its metabolites, or a biomarker of its effect. The proper collection, storage, and handling of biological specimens are governed by strict protocols to maintain sample integrity and produce reliable analytical results.
