Control group

A group of subjects in an experiment or study that does not receive the treatment or intervention being tested. This group serves as a baseline for comparison, allowing researchers to isolate the effects of the experimental variable. Subjects in a control group are treated identically to the experimental group in all aspects except for the specific intervention under investigation.
