Isotype control
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006267
An antibody of the same immunoglobulin class, subclass, and light chain type as a primary antibody, but lacking specificity for the target antigen. It is used in immunoassays, particularly flow cytometry, to differentiate non-specific background staining from true antigen-specific signals. For a valid comparison, the isotype control antibody must be from the same species and used at the same concentration as the primary experimental antibody.
