Negative assay control

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007802

A sample or treatment in a biomolecular screening assay that is not expected to produce a positive response or signal. It is processed identically to the experimental samples to provide a baseline or background measurement against which the activity of test compounds is compared. This control demonstrates that the assay system itself does not generate a false positive signal in the absence of an active compound.
