Extinction probability
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004277
The likelihood that a population of organisms will eventually die out completely. This probability is influenced by factors such as population size, birth and death rates, environmental variability, and demographic stochasticity. It is a key concept in conservation biology for assessing the risk of species loss.
