Nucleon
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008134
A constituent particle of an atomic nucleus, encompassing both protons and neutrons. These subatomic particles are held together within the nucleus by the strong nuclear force. The total number of nucleons in an atom determines its mass number, which is a key characteristic of an isotope.
