Neutron
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007914
An elementary particle found in the nucleus of an atom that carries no net electric charge. Along with protons, neutrons constitute the mass of the atomic nucleus and are collectively known as nucleons. The neutron has a mass of approximately 1.6749 × 10⁻²⁷ kg, which is marginally greater than that of a proton.
