Helion
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005163
The nucleus of a helium-3 (³He) atom, consisting of two protons and one neutron. It is the cation He²⁺ with mass number 3 and is distinct from the alpha particle, which is the nucleus of a helium-4 atom. Helions are produced in nuclear fusion reactions, such as those occurring in stars.
