Population effect

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009273

An effect expressed at the level of a whole group rather than an individual, usually given as the absolute number of cases or the incidence rate of an outcome arising in the exposed population. In toxicology and epidemiology it states the burden of an exposure, for example as cases per 100,000 people per year, and it depends on both the size of the individual risk and the number of people exposed.
