Population fluctuation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009274
The variation, over time, in the size or density of a population of organisms within a defined area. These changes can be regular, cyclical, or irregular and are driven by the interplay of birth rates, death rates, immigration, and emigration. The fluctuations are influenced by both density-dependent factors, like resource availability and predation, and density-independent factors, such as weather events or chemical contamination.
