Precision of indication
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009357
The standard deviation of the repeated indications of an instrument, such as a balance, when the same stated load or input is measured several times. It describes the random scatter of the reading and not any systematic offset. For a balance it is determined at stated loads, and a smaller value means the instrument returns more repeatable readings.
