Predictive value
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009372
A statistical measure that indicates the probability that a test result correctly reflects the true presence or absence of a condition. Positive predictive value (PPV) is the probability that a positive test result is truly positive, while negative predictive value (NPV) is the probability that a negative test result is truly negative. These values depend on the sensitivity and specificity of the test, as well as the prevalence of the condition in the population.
