Negative-ion yield

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007807

A ratio used in secondary ion mass spectrometry: the count of negatively charged secondary ions leaving a sample, divided by the count of primary particles that struck it. This ratio is not the negative ionization probability, which relates the negative ions to all of the atoms or molecules sputtered; it is obtained by multiplying that probability by the sputtering yield.
