Positive-ion yield

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009293

The efficiency with which positive ions are produced from a sample under specific ionization conditions, typically expressed as the number of positive ions generated per incident particle or atom. This value is influenced by the ionization method, the nature of the analyte, and the matrix. It is a key parameter in quantitative surface analysis techniques like secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS).
