Fractional ion yield
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004629
The ratio of the number of ions of a specific type produced from a surface to the total number of particles (ions and neutrals) sputtered from that surface. This value indicates the efficiency of ion formation for a particular species during sputtering processes. It is a measure used in surface analysis techniques like secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS).
