Total ion yield

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012138

The count of ions of both polarities emitted from a sample per incident primary particle. It counts ions emitted rather than ions detected, so it does not depend on the transmission or detection efficiency of the spectrometer. In secondary-ion mass spectrometry it is the sum of the positive and negative secondary-ion yields.
