Impact energy
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005718
The kinetic energy of an incident particle or projectile that strikes a surface. This energy is transferred to the target material, potentially causing sputtering, implantation, or other surface modifications. In secondary-ion mass spectrometry, the impact energy of primary ions influences the yield and fragmentation of secondary ions.
