Total mobile phase time
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012139
The retention time, in size-exclusion chromatography, of a sample component whose molecules are small enough to enter every pore of the packing particles, so that it samples all of the mobile phase in the column. It equals the total mobile phase volume divided by the column flow rate, tt = Vt/Fc. Larger molecules excluded from the pores elute earlier, at the shorter hold-up time of the interparticle volume.
