Process
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009493
A sequence of chemical or physical changes that transforms one or more entities into a different state or substance. In a metabolic context, a process consists of a series of enzyme-catalyzed reactions that form a pathway, such as the conversion of glucose to pyruvate during glycolysis. The rate of a metabolic process is a quantity expressed in units of amount of substance per unit of time, such as moles per second (mol/s).
