Metabolic pathway
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007239
A series of interconnected biochemical reactions occurring within a cell or organism, where the product of one reaction serves as the substrate for the next. These pathways are catalyzed by enzymes and are responsible for the synthesis, breakdown, and interconversion of molecules, maintaining cellular homeostasis. Examples include glycolysis, the citric acid cycle, and fatty acid synthesis.
