Graminicide

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004993

A type of selective herbicide specifically designed to control grass weeds without harming broadleaf crops. These chemicals target metabolic pathways unique to grasses, such as the enzyme acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase), which is involved in fatty acid synthesis. Examples of graminicides include compounds from the aryloxyphenoxypropionate ('fop') and cyclohexanedione ('dim') chemical families.
