Icosanoids

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005564

A class of oxygenated fatty acid derivatives, primarily derived from arachidonic acid, that act as local hormones. These compounds include prostaglandins, thromboxanes, and leukotrienes, which are involved in many physiological processes. They exert their effects by binding to specific receptors on target cells, influencing inflammation, blood pressure, and immune responses.
