  "definition": "The family of 20-carbon oxygenated lipid mediators formed from arachidonic acid and related polyunsaturated fatty acids by cyclooxygenase, comprising the prostaglandins, prostacyclin and the thromboxanes. Prostaglandins carry a cyclopentane ring, prostacyclin adds a fused five-membered ether ring, and thromboxanes contain a six-membered oxygen-containing ring instead of a carbocycle. Aspirin and other cyclooxygenase inhibitors block their synthesis.",
