Protonated molecule
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013448
A molecule that has gained a proton (H+) through an ionization process, typically in the gas phase. This results in a positively charged ion with a mass one unit greater than the neutral molecule. Protonated molecules are frequently observed in mass spectrometry, particularly in techniques like chemical ionization.
