Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010086

A numerical value of a quantity that is known with small uncertainty and is adopted as the standard against which other values of that quantity are compared, as with the assigned value of a certified reference material. In biomonitoring and clinical chemistry the term also names a value found in a defined healthy or unexposed population, against which an individual result is compared. These population-based values are usually reported as percentile limits.
