Conventional true value
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002542
A value assigned to a quantity and accepted, by agreement among those concerned, as having an uncertainty suitable for the intended purpose. It stands in for the true value, which cannot be known exactly, and serves as the reference point against which instruments are calibrated or results compared. The value assigned to a certified reference material is a common example.
