Relative error

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010141

The size of a measurement error expressed as a fraction of the correct value of the quantity measured, which makes it dimensionless. The correct value is never known exactly, so an accepted reference value stands in for it in practice. It is often given as a percentage or in parts per thousand, and should not be confused with relative uncertainty.
