Conventional quantity value

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002541

A value agreed upon for a quantity so that it can be used for a stated purpose, such as the standard acceleration of free fall, 9.80665 m/s2, or the conventional value of the Josephson constant. It is taken to have a suitably small measurement uncertainty, which is zero for defined constants. A conventional value is also assigned to individual measurement standards, such as a mass standard.
