Convergent evolution
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002543
The process by which unrelated organisms independently evolve similar traits or characteristics as a result of adapting to similar environmental pressures or ecological niches. This phenomenon illustrates how different evolutionary paths can lead to analogous solutions. An example is the development of wings in both birds and insects.
