Resolving time
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010240
The minimum time interval required between two consecutive events for a radiation detector system to register them as distinct signals. If a second event occurs within this period, it is not recorded as a separate count, a phenomenon contributing to the system's dead time. The resolving time determines the maximum count rate a detector can handle accurately and is classified as either paralyzable or non-paralyzable, depending on the detector's response to events occurring during the dead time.
