Secondary sexual characteristic

A physical or behavioral trait that appears during puberty, distinguishing between the sexes of a species without being directly part of the reproductive system. These characteristics develop in response to sex hormones, such as estrogens and androgens, and signal sexual maturity. Examples in humans include the development of breasts in females, the growth of facial hair in males, and the appearance of pubic hair in both sexes.
