Sustained delivery
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011705
The controlled release of an active substance, such as a drug, from a polymeric matrix over an extended period. This method aims to maintain therapeutic concentrations in the body for longer durations, reducing the frequency of administration. Sustained delivery systems often involve encapsulation of the active agent within biodegradable or non-biodegradable polymer carriers.
