Target examination uncertainty

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011818

The upper limit of examination uncertainty that is acceptable for the intended clinical use of a result, set before the examination procedure is chosen or validated. It is typically derived from within-subject biological variation, from the effect of the result on clinical decisions, or from current analytical performance. A procedure whose actual uncertainty exceeds this limit is not fit for that purpose.
