Withdrawal

A set of adverse physical and psychological symptoms that occur when a person reduces or stops using a substance after prolonged or heavy use. These symptoms arise as the body attempts to re-establish homeostasis in the absence of the substance. The severity and type of symptoms vary depending on the substance and the individual's physiological dependence.
