A unit of length belonging to the imperial and United States customary systems of measurement, accepted for use with the International System of Units (SI). The international yard is defined by agreement as exactly 0.9144 meters. This unit is equivalent to three feet or thirty-six inches, and 1760 yards make up one international mile.
