Decryption
Term · Computing and IT · MLC-T-CMP-001451
The process of converting ciphertext, which is unreadable encrypted data, back into its original, readable form known as plaintext. This reverse transformation requires a specific key or password that was used during the initial encryption process. Decryption is a fundamental operation in cryptography, governed by algorithms like the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) which specifies key sizes of 128, 192, or 256 bits.
