Digital camera

An optical device that captures still images or video electronically by converting light into digital data. It uses an image sensor, such as a CCD (charge-coupled device) or CMOS (complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor), instead of photographic film. The captured images are stored on memory cards in formats like JPEG or RAW.
