Ultra DMA
Term · Computing and IT · MLC-T-CMP-001273
A data transfer mode for Parallel ATA (PATA) hard drives that uses Direct Memory Access to move data directly between the drive and system memory without involving the CPU. This mode significantly increased the data transfer rates of PATA interfaces compared to earlier PIO modes. Ultra DMA modes range from UDMA/33 to UDMA/133, indicating transfer speeds in megabytes per second.
