1. The amount of a deposited or absorbed compound reaching the cells or target sites where adverse effect occur, or where the chemical interacts with a membrane.
2. The amount of chemical that reaches the cells or target site where an adverse effect may occur.
3. The amount of contaminant that interacts with the internal target tissue or organ.
