Percolation
Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-020519
1. 1. The movement of water downward and radially through subsurface soil layers, usually continuing downward to ground water. Can also involve upward movement of water.
2. 2. Slow seepage of water through a filter.
3. The passage of liquids, powders or small particles through a porous substance. Water percolates through soil in the water cycle.
4. (PURR-ko-LAY-shun) The slow seepage of water into and through the ground.
5. The slow passage of water through a filter medium.
6. The movement of groundwater from the unsaturated zone to the saturated zone.
7. The movement of water downward and radially through subsurface soil layers, usually continuing downward to ground water. Can also involve upward movement of water.
8. Slow seepage of water through a filter.
9. The flow or trickling of a liquid downward through a contact or filtering medium.
10. In hydrologic terms, the movement of water, under hydrostatic pressure, through the interstices of a rock or soil, except the movement through large openings such as caves
11. The entrance of a portion of the streamflow into the channel materials to contribute to ground water replenishment.
12. Passage of liquids, powders or small particles through a porous substance. Water percolates through soil in the water cycle.
