Percolation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008626
The formation of a continuous path or network through a disordered medium, such as a polymer composite filled with conductive particles. This phenomenon occurs when the concentration of the dispersed phase reaches a certain level, allowing for connectivity across the entire material. In conductive composites, percolation leads to a sharp increase in electrical conductivity as the conductive filler particles form a continuous pathway.
