Percolation threshold

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008627

The specific concentration or volume fraction of a dispersed phase within a composite material at which a continuous network or pathway first forms throughout the entire matrix. Below this point, the dispersed particles are isolated, but once the threshold is reached, they connect to create a macroscopic pathway. For electrically conductive composites, exceeding this threshold results in a dramatic increase in the material's electrical conductivity.
