Conducting polymer composite
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002395
An electrically conducting composite made of a non-conducting polymer matrix filled with a conducting material such as carbon black, metal particles or carbon nanotubes. Conduction sets in once the filler content passes the percolation threshold and the particles form a connected network through the insulating matrix. The threshold is a fraction of a percent by volume for high-aspect-ratio carbon nanotubes but several percent for carbon black.
