1. Meaning contained in the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, 42 U.S.C. 2014 et seq., and the regulations issued thereunder [40 CFR 710.3 (CFR 2013)]

2. Special nuclear materials are (i) plutonium, uranium-233, uranium enriched in the isotope 233 or in the isotope 235, and any other material that the NRC determines to be special nuclear material, but does not include source material; or (ii) any material artificially enriched by any of the foregoing but does not include source material.
