  "definition": "An ATM Adaptation Layer type for connection-oriented, variable bit rate data services that segments each upper-layer frame into 48-byte cell payloads and reassembles it at the receiver. It adds only a short trailer with a length field and a 32-bit CRC, so overhead is low. The CRC detects corrupted frames, which are discarded rather than corrected, and AAL5 is the layer that carries IP traffic over ATM.",
