Absolute scale

A measurement system where the zero point represents the complete absence of the quantity being measured, rather than an arbitrary reference. This allows for direct ratio comparisons between measurements. The Kelvin temperature scale is an example, where 0 K signifies absolute zero, the theoretical lowest possible temperature.
