Apertometer
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000236
An instrument designed to measure the numerical aperture of a microscope objective. The measurement determines the maximum cone of light that a lens can accept from a specimen, which is a key parameter for its resolving power. Numerical aperture is a dimensionless quantity; high-power oil immersion objectives can achieve values greater than 1.0, whereas dry objectives are limited to a theoretical maximum of 1.0.
